Re: 2019 Finals Week 1 V Storm: Game Day

Jesus Christ stop trying to argue about it. Who cares if he was in or out. Who cares if it was a refereeing howler. It did not have a material impact on the outcone. Things like this happen all the time. We won. We beat the storm in their home 2nd time this year. It's a great day for the Raiders reg...

Re: Canterbury Bulldogs want to sign Canberra Raiders centre Joey Leilua

If Joey stays fit he has 3 good years left in him. After that, you would have to see. I would hate to lose BJ. While we were able to show we dont rely on him or Rapana throughout this season, you can see we scored most of our tries over on the left instead of on their side. But the major point I wan...

Re: Elliott Whitehead and Ryan Sutton set to sign two year extensions

While Sutton might not have played for England, he was being talked about as a future England rep. He is only 24 years old and his best is ahead of him. Considering he is probably coming at a reasonable price and will fit in well with our other English team mates, I am happy to give him 2 more years...

Three of the four players being rested look like they need it. Soliola is old and is important to our finals campaign so I have no issue with him being rested aswell. No others are being rested so I dont see the reason for all the arguing over whether they should be. If we are well ahead and in cont...

I have faith that the team will be taking the game seriously.
Losing 2 of the last 3 games should have erased any complacency anyway. Plus the fact that poor performances could cost a player a spot in the team.

Re: NRL: Is it time for Canberra Raiders fans to forgive Cronulla Sharks star Josh Dugan?

Interesting question: Todd Carney got invited back to the old boys day a couple of weeks ago. He also went on a podcast recently and said if it wasn’t for all his stuff ups he his preference would to have played 300 games for the Raiders and be co captain with Croker. Would Dugan and/or Ferguson ge...

Better question to ask is, "is Josh Dugan sorry for what he did to Canberra"?
Has he ever shown amy remorse whatsoever?

Who knows. Losing the Manly game, as irritating as it was, may have made us more aware of how important it is to retain focus in these big games and not go off our game plan and get caught up in the niggle. Time will tell. I hope you are right. It's almost been a week and I'm still looking for some...

Re: How should the NRL deal with significant refereeing errors?

On the Manly game, I reckon Klein (Nein, Nine!) was responsible for a 20 point turnaround in the scoreline. He blows 23 penalties on that game but will not review the offside for the intercept try (Raiders 14- manly 10) and the footage shows atleast 3 Manly players offside at the ruck; blows a penal...

Re: Joey Leilua

My main concern about bringing BJ back is he plays on the right. If Hodgo is not going to pass to Sezer as much it gives less oppty to our right side Leipana combo. That means BJ and Raps do more defence and less attack. We dont get to utilise the X factor BJ and Leipana bring to the game. In my min...

As annoyed and agitated by the result as I am now, I actually think this loss is great for us. It is a clear reminder to the team not to get ahead of themselves. More importantly though, it sets up the finals, and particularly games against other contenders, including the Roosters and Manly, as game...

Re: Our inability to handle the niggle

I thought a bigger problem was our failure to adjust to Manly rushing out and putting our first receiver under pressure. We could have just stood a little deeper, or gone a shorter pass a few times to put them in two minds. Our attack was very effectively shut down with that tactic. I was disappoint...

We are contenders no doubt but...
In the finals I would say any one of the top 6 plus the Sharks could get a win over one of the top 4.
Then another loss to a top 4 team and you're eliminated.

Im a jaded Raiders fan ofcourse, which is why I worry about these games where confidence starts creeping up. Seems this year a bit of adversity and courage under fire is what rallies the team. A big home crowd, high confidence, talk of winning the premiership - cool it I say. Consider this game an a...

Croker always had control of the ball and put downward pressure on the ball with the forearm - try. 50% of the time its a no try - 50% of the time its a try. Rapana clearly put the ball down and it did not touch the chalk - try. Solomona should have got ten in the bin as well. Other players from the...

big difference between 2016 and 2019 I see is that in 2016 we came from the fringe of the 8 to go on a 10 game winning streak to finish 2nd.
2019 we have been established in the top 4 or 5 all year and defence has been the foundation for that.

How old is Whitehead?
Turns 30 in 4 weeks. A 2 year extension on hi current deal would make him 33 at the end of the contract.
In that case Id be happy to extend him 2 years. Wouldnt be too concerned about him wanting to go home, what with all the brexit shenanigans going on.

Croker over Mitchell is an interesting one. I think taking a more considered approach and doing some research on what you need, who best fits, how much they cost and whether they are workers or wannabes rather than taking player A coz he came from the broncos, is perhaps a factor.

I feel as though, going into the game against the Roosters, that instead of being wary and worried about a loss, that we are coming for them. The boys will lift the aggression and discipline, and really take it to them.
Its the Roosters who should be worried.
