Re: Wests Tigers set to sign Laurie Daley as halves coach

Just a theory.... Great halves with natural ability might not know how they do it and so cant teach it. Players who teach themselves, or are taught, to be good halves, learn the techniques and can therefore pass them on. So it could be that guys like a. Johns and stuart might not be good halves coac...

Re: Podcast with Matt Elliott

Indeed, Meninga was such a useless coach at Origin level, they made him Australian coach. He has many great qualities but it was acknowledged at the time that he had great support staff, including a defensive coach, an attacking coach as well as trainers. Dave Furner was also good enough to be an a...

Re: Podcast with Matt Elliott

Matt Elliott was easily the best coach we've had for getting the best out of players week in, week out since Tim Sheens. No idea how Ricky "one in five seasons" Stuart gets a continual free pass from the likes of dubby while a bloke with a 50/50 finals record with a much inferior team gets flat-out...

Who's that with Mal ? The guy who shook Ricky's hand and agreed to join us, before backflipping on the deal. It was a $700k per season contract he forfeited, only to join the Titans a few seasons later for less. And we got Sia instead. Sent from my SM-G960F using The Greenhouse mobile app powered b...

Re: Grounds for concern: Could 'super stadium' be on cards for Canberra?

If Canberra / ACT build a multi purpose piece of **** instead of a rectangular stadium the raiders should at the very least look to move back to seiffert and drop canberra from their name, if not somewhere else entirely. I know its not popular, but the canberra raiders make canberra relevant from a...

But the the main reason we dont get this coverage is that we're not a good football team. Lot of stuff im not going to argue about but being a good footy team has nothing to do with FTA coverage. Eg storm dont get many FTA games but most of all... a few years back now, this was an argument put forw...

Re: Canberra Raiders express interest in Kiwi superstar Shaun Johnson

Ricky is great at recruitment but we cant win a premiership under him.
Under him sezer and Austin went backwards. Williams has not kicked on.
Johnson would be a good pickup but his inclusion is not the difference between 2017/18 and a premiership with Stuart as coach.

Re: Canberra Raiders express interest in Kiwi superstar Shaun Johnson

The problem with Ricky Stuart as coach is that he undoes some of the good things he can do like squad assembly and motivation, with some serious tactical flaws. Bench use, “strategies” like kicking early in the count while struggling for possession. He seems incapable of admitting where the flaws a...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2018

Seems like Hayne has something to prove. Something that has worked reasonably well for Ricky. I actually believe in him still. Free of injuries he would be a great fill in for Rapana, who might be out for six months. With salary cap relief due to the loss of Rapana, he might be worth a shot. Althoug...

Re: Canberra Raiders express interest in Kiwi superstar Shaun Johnson

I hope we do 'due diligence' on his fitness. He is tough and plays with injury but he is not getting any younger. 8 seasons with the Warriors for a 46% win percentage which was bumped up in 2018. I say again, we can score tries. We were second top try scoring side in the NRL in 2018. It is our defe...

Imagine having Croker, Sezer, Johnson and Williams as your goal kicking depth
Well Crokers position as goal kicker would be under threat. Both Sezer and Williams have shown they can kick conversions as good as anyone. I even think Sezers % is better than Crokers.

Re: Nail it or fail again - What is the pass mark for the Raiders in 2019?

Top 8 is just a fair to middling result. Its barely a pass and plenty of teams sack coaches who achieve only this.
For me a successful season is measured by the old school finals qualifying mark- top 5.
I believe we have a squad that can achieve this. My only doubts concern the coach.

From what I saw he looked pretty good. Fairly aggressive too. Wondered why he wasn't given more opportunities.
Intetested to see how he goes in 2019. May need to step it up to break into regular selection as I assume he has to break through the ricky ceiling.

If we can stick with a regular pairing in the halves, with Sezer at 5/8, he should have a better year in 2018. With a stable pair of halves in 2018 we should atleast see if Sezer is any good.

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2018

Problem is Mann would be overpaid for what he offers. Unless there is a player like TPJ who would genuinely add wins I'd rather we just pad the squad out with minimum wagers and juniors and target players for 2020. Kindof agree here. Mann strikes me as a player who seems decent enough, but unable t...

It will be williams/Sezer with Jacks/Hingano at Mounties keeping pressure on for first grade spots. Atleast thats the logical setup. Pre-season training, injuries and form ongoing would change that. Im sure Jacks and Hingano would be well prepared for that setup and likely they know they will have t...

And it would make perfect sense for 3 other NRL teams to set a limit on wage or contract length for a player who has limited first grade experience at 26 Yrs Old.
