Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2024

I read that Stefano has a clause that if the Tigers don't play finals this year he can leave so that move may still be on the cards. Hopefully it is because I don't want Melbourne to come after Mooney. If they do though, he'd be mad not to go for it and he'd be a great pick up for them.

Re: 2024 Rd 4 v Sharks: Teams and Previews *Teams p1

Honesty I don't mind Hoppa as much as many others do but I'm absolutely on board with wanting outside backs with more attacking ability then he has. A more relevant metric than metres/pcm is metres per run. Hoppa makes good total metres/pcm because he is so willing. He does it through volume of work...

Re: 2024 Rd 4 v Sharks: Teams and Previews *Teams p1

It's some encouraging moves. I note that the dropping of Hoppa was a forced change and probably wouldn't have happened had he not burned himself so I'm not viewing this as too much of a 'seeing the light' kind of moment, but dropping Guler is absolutely a good start. My prediction is that Guler will...

Re: 2024 Rd 4 v Sharks: Teams and Previews

100% Hors, Ata and Mooney are the best 3 options. We need to get these 3 in. Saulo is ok, and as a game opens up a bit he does manage to punch into the line and get quick play the balls because he's fit and pretty quick. He's next cab off the rank for mine. I find Emre to be pretty useless and enoug...

Re: 2024 Rd 4 v Sharks: Teams and Previews

I just watched the game last night and my thoughts on it are: - Whitehead looks HEAVY. I think he's put on weight over the offseason. The commentators remarked that he was out on his feet at the 15 min mark and tbh he did F-all in that time so it's a worry. - Hoppa should never play centre (or fb). ...

Re: 2024 Rd 4 v Sharks: Teams and Previews

Sign me up too. Im not sure about Puru as back up hooker but I'd love to see how that team goes. I remain pessimistic though that we'll see a full Raiders team picked on the strength of their performances at any point this year. A favoured few will continue to be assured a spot in the 17 over more d...

Re: 2024 Rd 3 v Warriors: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*

It's just frustration boiling over from fans because we want the team to be the best it can be but year after year we see team selections that are objectively stupid and doesn't make use of the full potential of the squad. The stupid team selections also always take a long time to correct and often ...

2024 Rd 3 v Warriors: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*

Terrible. The EDIT selections are back. The second row decision is terrible, we've just benched the guy coming 4th on the Dally M leaderboard, the bench props are back to last year's zero impact crew and the Hoppa and Cotric inclusions are just mediocre. And where TF is Horsburgh?! This is another e...

Hors is an origin player and comes straight back in after last year's form. He's been suspended, not injured, so he's done all of the fitness work that everyone else has over a full offseason. The team hit the ground running last week so I don't see why Corey wouldn't too. Guler and Saulo aren't goi...

Re: 2024 Rd 2 v Tigers: Teams and Previews

Worth noting as far as metres per run... Rapana: 7.15 Cotric: 7.3 Timoko: 12.78 (Jesus!) Hoppa: 7.2 Savage: 8.13 So whilst Hoppa had a lot of yards, that's a volume thing more than being particularly good. And there is certainly value in having someone who consistently shows up to take those early ...

Re: 2024 Rd 1 v Knights: Teams and Previews

I am not a Saulo fan but I respect his effort in the trials and think he probably deserves a bench spot in round 1 based on that. I'm also not a Guler fan and the trials only reinforced for me that he's not deserving of a spot in the 17 and certainly not the automatic selection that Ricky's been giv...

Saulo played a big game today- good on him. Yes he did BnM. It was exactly the kind of performance wanted after a player has re-signed. Not at all like Bronson Harrison, take the money and go to sleep, about Saulo. I think the competition for a FG place is a battle between Guler and Saulo. Saulo ha...

Re: Canberra Raiders express interest in Cowboys forward Luciano Leilua

Noah Martin's front on defence was a highlight but we didn't see much from him with the ball. It was 20 minutes of one trial game and he's only 18 so still a couple of years away. I think it's pretty early for anyone to be stating that we don't need another edge backrower because we have Noah Martin...

Re: Canberra Raiders express interest in Cowboys forward Luciano Leilua

If we get him, the depth in our forward pack continues to get crazier! Surely no other forward pack in the comp runs this deep (which we can do because we probably have the cheapest spine in the comp). I'd like for us to get him but I don't see this happening for the simple fact that the articles ar...

The thing is, I don't think that Guler and Saulo are actually workers either. They're called workers because they aren't dynamic, but they also don't really get through all that much work... Unnecessary early re-signing. No other teams were coming for him and there was no need to go off early, but such is the raiders way. Contracts for nice guys. Mooney can't put his hand up any higher than he has over the past 12 months. He's dominated NSW Cup and he's performed well every time he's ha...

Apparently the second club is a Sydney club. Good outcome for Cowboys, all four of them are good players but I have Luciana as 4/4. And Hosking would be 5/5. Really poor outcome for the Raiders if we've been looking for a "point of difference" second rower and Hosking is all we get when a...

I actually would be surprised if that's the case. I think Mariota has rightfully jumped Guler and Saulo after his promotion to the starting side and performance in the final last year. What I won't be surprised at is if Stuart continues to pick Guler and Saulo over Trey Mooney. I'll be a lot of thin...

I went with winger and then changed it to fullback. It's a tough one. The choice comes down to who is the better alternative in the other position - Chevy Stewart at fb or Cotric on the wing. I don't care for Cotric anymore and would be happy enough to see him moved on tbh but I've never seen Stewar...

I agree and that's how I'd have it if I could choose the team. I like Papa off the bench. He would be a real weapon for us off the bench and I think that his skill/footwork would go well with Mooney who's a really aggressive, hard-runner.
